HOW TO: Apply Eyeliner For Beginners

It’s important to know the proper way to apply eyeliner so it enhances your eyes and doesn’t look thick and messy.
Keep eyeliner on the top lid three times thicker than liner on the bottom. And for extra staying power, use waterproof gel liners on the bottom lashline.Choose your eyeliner based on the look you’re after. If you want a softer or smudgy line, use a dark powder shadow or pencil. For the most dramatic effect or when you want a more graphic line, go for gel or liquid liner.it’s important to know how to apply it correctly.

What You Need

dark eye pencil, sharpener, matching eye shadow, shadow brush

Follow These Steps

    Sharpen eye pencil
To guarantee a clean application, sharpen your eye pencil every time you use it.

Tip: Sharpening your eye pencil before each use will help eliminate any accumulated bacteria.

Apply liner as close to the base of the lashes as possible. Start thick at the outer corner of the eye and gradually make the line thinner towards the inner corner of the eye. Always line the entire length of the eye; never line just halfway—this will make eyes look smaller.

If you struggle with eyeliner transferring onto the lid, it's worth setting down the flick with a little translucent powder. "Let your liquid eyeliner dry, and then set it by patting a translucent powder on top" says James. If you tend to get oily eyelids, the powder will keep the formula from breaking down and prevent it from smudging or transferring.
Whilst a super-fat liner flick can look kinda cool, it can also be a little heavy on the eyes and make them appear smaller than they actually are.

"First, use a pointed cotton bud (rather than a round one) dipped in some micellar water to remove the excess eyeliner" says James. "When it comes to re-drawing, try to ensure that the inner corner is the finest point of the line, and that it graduates in thickness as you make your way outwards."

If your liner wing is too short, it can make your eyes look smaller than they actually are. "Line the eyes looking straight forward into a mirror, that way you can see exactly where the wing is going to end" says James. "If your flick is too short it'll get lost in the socket line, so be sure to extend it past the crease of your eye - this way it'll elongate the eyes and make them look bigger."

Finish with the bottom lash

Sweep any color that’s left on your brush onto the lower lid, just below the lashes. Start at the outer corner of the eye and work the shadow inward toward the middle of the eye, stopping a little less than halfway across the lower lash line.

Cinderella Diet - The Latest Weight Loss Diet

Once upon a time, a Japanese weight-loss trend called the 'Cinderella diet' went viral, and created a Twitter storm.

The controversial and unhealthy fad tells people how to calculate their 'Cinderella goal weight', so that they can look like the fictional character.

The fictional princess is being used as a controversial staple for 'weight goals'.

The Cinderella Diet (sometimes called the Cinderella weight challenge) is expanding from Japan to the United States. The Cinderella Diet is basically what it sounds like: Dieting to achieve the same proportions as the fictional Disney character. To find that “magical” weight, you have to measure your height in meters, square it, then multiply by 18. This will spit out your "ideal" weight in kilograms, so you would need to multiply this number by 2.2 to get the figure in pounds.

According to the BMI (Body Mass Index) — which is shitty at correlating health and weight, but still the most popular method used — the Cinderella weight is either fully underweight, or on the border.

For example, a 5'4" woman with a Cinderella weight of 108 pounds would have a BMI of 18, which is veering between underweight and "normal" weight.

Plus, health looks different on everyone. Saying that one weight is a "goal" weight is terrifying, incorrect, and beyond messed up.
Is the Cinderella diet dangerous?

Those who have a BMI of 18.5-25 are considered to be a healthy weight so the Cinderella diet puts people below this healthy range.

Many medical professionals believe that having a BMI that’s too high or low can increase your risk of health problems, including heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

Many believe these fad diets, such as the new Cinderella trend, are a big red warning for disordered eating symptoms.

Plugging a few heights into the formula gives us the following combinations:

● 165 centimeters = 49 kilograms

● 170 centimeters = 52 kilograms

● 175 centimeters = 55 kilograms

● 180 centimeters = 58 kilograms

If those sound like especially low body weights, it might be because they’re actually 18 percent lighter than the weights recommended for women of that height by the Japan Medical Association. In other words, even by Japan’s already slim baseline (relative to other societies), the Cinderella weight reflects a remarkably light build. The Cinderella weight also works out to a Body Mass Index of 18, whereas proponents of BMI as a health metric maintain that anything under 18.5 is too low.

What is the Cinderella diet?
In a time where there is an increased focus on healthy eating, healthy living, and body acceptance/positivity, there has come along a diet that seemingly puts those that try it at risk. This diet, dubbed The Cinderella Diet, is dieting to achieve the same proportions as the fictional Disney character.

Sweat-Proof Makeup

Tips for Keeping Makeup in Place

Get more from your makeup with these tips and tricks for the ultimate longevity

1—Skip the powder. Toning down shine with powder can create a chalky look that only exaggerates fine lines and wrinkles. Use blotting papers instead to absorb excess oil without messing up your makeup.

2—Cool off before application. Do you apply makeup fresh out of the shower? It’s better to wait at least 10 minutes for your body to cool down. Applying makeup to warm skin makes the skin absorb the ingredients more readily, which can cause breakouts later, and is likely to result in a less polished appearance. Wait until the skin is completely cool. If you’re in a rush, splash your face with cold water a few times before starting your makeup routine.

3—Carry a facial mist. If you’re traveling and find it hard to refresh your makeup, take a facial mist along with you. As long as the pump delivers a fine spray, you’ll end up cooling your skin, which will make your makeup last longer. Tip: Try our Rosemary Toning Mist to cool down on the go.

4—Use a primer. Primers are made to help makeup cling to the skin a little longer. They can cut also down on shine later in the day. Apply before putting on your foundation, but after your moisturizer. Make sure whatever product you use is oil-free.

5—Avoid heavy foundations. Heavy, full coverage foundations are more likely to melt and slip on hot, sweaty skin. In the warmer months, switch it up to a lighter product that is oil-free and won’t be heavy on your skin.

6—Switch from powders to creams. Powders can cake in the heat, which is super unattractive. During the summer, if you’re noticing cakiness, switch to cream blushes and eye shadows. Use an eyelid primer if you find your eye makeup running.

7—Go water resistant. Mascara that’s water resistant or waterproof is better able to withstand summer sweating. Liquid eyeliners also last longer than pencils when your lids are moist.

8—Avoid dark colors. If you’re going to be out in the sun, stay away from smoky eyes, dark blushes, and the like. These are a bit harsh in the bright summer sun, and are also more likely to be noticeable if they drip or smudge. Look for softer colors, particularly for the eyes.

9―Drink! Keeping your body cool from the inside out is the best way to keep your skin dry. Carry a stainless steel water bottle with you, and sip frequently. Add ice often to keep it cold. This can also double as a neck and face cooler when you need it!

10—Use less. Too much makeup in the hot summer sun can make you look unnatural. If you’re going out in the heat, stick to the essentials. Conceal the dark spots and undereye circles, freshen your face with blush, consider a light BB cream or foundation, and apply a bit of bronzer to the cheeks, nose, and chin. Finish off with a waterproof mascara and a light cream eyeshadow and you’re good to go.

Sweat-proof makeup can be hard to achieve! Why not try forgoing makeup altogether!
