Home Living Room Carpet and Rug Review and Buying Guide | Designerplanet
Sometimes
you need an area rug just to cover ugly floors, to prevent downstairs
neighbors from hearing you walk, or to make your place feel homey
without spending a lot of money. That's why we primarily focused on rugs
available in an 8-by-10-foot size for around $ 300 or less (most of the
rugs we tested also come in many smaller sizes). After a year of
testing, we found that, in this price range, flat-weave rugs held up
better than higher-pile rugs, and than cotton rugs, or those with a
cotton-wool or cotton blend- polyester, were more durable than
polyester, so our recommendations tend towards them.
Even if you
don't fall in love with any of the specific rugs in this guide, we've
got a lot here to point you in the right direction. We share tips from
design professionals on what types of rugs work best in high- and
low-traffic areas, what size carpet to buy, and how to choose a carpet
pattern or color that will shine in your living space.
The word rug has come to mean a smaller item (as in an area rug that is about 4 feet by 6 feet or less) while the word rug reflects larger items (as in an area rug that is more than 4 feet wide and 6 feet long). Both rugs and rugs are basically floor coverings, the only difference being their size.
Both a rug and a rug are used to refer to a thick piece of fabric that is typically woven from organic fibers such as cotton, jute (a plant fiber that can be spun into thick, strong yarn), silk, or wool. A rug or rug can also be made from synthetic materials and both are often used to decorate homes and offices around the world.
